Package Description: Remuneration and benefits will be commensurate with the seniority of the role and in compliance with company remuneration policy and practice.

Job Introduction:

The Systems Specialist will be responsible for delivering service and system related support to end users, dealers and clients in a timely and professional way. Maintain existing systems in a proactive manner to avoid data loss or corruption.

Role Responsibility:

Conduct Software Testing

Test all new software releases from developers before distribution

  • Assist Helpdesk in escalated queries & provide support
  • Test and report on all XTime 900 related escalated queries
  • Escalate queries to development level if needed - Log and monitor all development escalated queries
  • Distribute new software releases throughout Skycom
  • Notify the Helpdesk and all Area Managers of new releases
  • Update and attach version specification document to the new software versions released

Accurate and timeous development of software in line with specifications

Monitor all logged Software development

  • Report on status on all logged development to head of development and heads of departments / areas
  • Update development log in conjunction with head of development on a weekly basis Attend development specification meetings
  • Compile development specifications
  • Log Development according to specification
  • Monitor Development according to specification
  • Communicate development status to relevant parties  

Develop and deliver user manuals

Compile all development manuals

  • Keep all systems manuals associated with company up to date and current
  • Communicate all manual updates to Skycom staff
  • Keep training department current and up to date with all new developments

Effective management of business development function

New business development

  • Identifying new business opportunities within sphere of operations, as well as in terms of growth of business with existing customers.
  • Competitors evaluations
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the competitor environment faced by the region.

Minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Broad knowledge of Time and Attendance (Advanced).
  • Broad knowledge of Access Control (Advanced).
  • Strong knowledge base on communication protocols i.e. TCP/IP, SQL Database Scripting (Advanced), SQL Database Querying (Advanced), Interbase / Firebird, Database Scripting (Advanced), Advanced Computer literacy and proficiency, Windows 98 / 2000 / XP / Vista / Windows 7, Server 2000 / 2003 / 2008 / New Releases, MS SQL 2000 / 2005 / 2008, ORACLE, MS Office Suite (Full), IB Phoenix Firebird / Interbase.
