                  Fire Chief: Isuzu Port Elizabeth

G4S Secure Solutions (SA), a leading global integrated security solutions company, has a vacancy for a Fire Chiefbased at Isuzu Port Elizabeth..

Reporting to the Contract Manager, this role's main purpose is to ensure the smooth running of the day to day administration of and support to operations at Isuzu Port Elizabeth, in such a manner as to ensure the continuous provision of a professional fire protection service that meets the requirements of Isuzu Port Elizabeth.



Role Responsibility:

• Conduct site visit and inspections, focusing on application of site instructions and G4S Policy

• Respond to all fires and emergencies

• Take command of emergency situations

• Ensure safe evacuation of staff and customer employees in case of fire evacuation emergencies

• Respond to afterhours emergencies

• Ensure that emergency response plans are approved by the NMBM Fire Department annually or when the emergency plan is changed

• Ensure effective communication between internal fire department, the Plant Leader, Site and Area emergency coordinators, external emergency service and other departments as required

• Provide and keep record of all firefighting, chemical and blood spill training

• Coordinates emergency preparedness training, this includes coordination of schedules for emergencies, response drills and simulation exercises

• Ensure that firemen are declared fit medically annually (Specifically in the use of a respirator)

• Ensure that firemen receives adequate firefighting and rescue training annually

• Ensure that spill kits are stored in a secure environment, replenished,  maintained and transported to areas required

• Ensure that firefighting equipment is inspected and maintained

• Assist with procurement  of firefighting equipment where required

• Ensure that all firefighting equipment is adequately marked with relevant signs


• Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch/region/national safety plans for each year.

• Participate in safety forums created by company for example safety meetings and safety talks

• Report all safety incidents to the relevant people

• Discuss all safety incidents on all levels

• Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/committee/representative/management

• Attend safety education and refresher programmes

• Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace

• Distribute safety information as and when required


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Relevant qualification within the designated fire department sector or equivalent
  • The minimum qualifications is Grade 12 with a Diploma in Firefighting and protection service management
    Driver’s Licence
    Minimum 5 years’ experience in firefighting and protection services management
