Job Introduction:

Security Officer (Armed Reaction)

G4S Cash Solutions has a vacancy for a Security Officer based in Nelspruit.

Role Responsibility:

Key Performance Areas:

Risk surveillance for different branches

  • Collect the vehicle for escort
  • Escort the vehicle to various clients and sometimes until vehicle is back at base
  • Upon information received from Intelligence / Investigations Departments, pertaining to possible attacks on customers and or branches, member responds, either reactively or pro-actively.

Identify high risk areas

  • Conduct risk assessment/survey at client site
  • Compile the relevant reports
  • Send report to Management
  • Random surveillance of sites known for robberies

Road checks

  • Stop suspicious looking vehicles outside or at base
  • Cover allocated areas and conduct vehicle search
  • Check the risk on the vehicle e.g. safes, locks, uniform, bullet proof vests, weapon permits, ID
  • Compile the relevant reports

Branch opening and closing procedures including vehicle checks

  • Is advised to go to a branch to do the opening procedures using the prescribed forms
  • Conduct closing procedure checks
  • Check the whole fleet of the branch
  • Check the security compliance stores
  • Provide evidence to support the opening and closing report

Investigation

  • React to tip-offs provided by investigations
  • Providing security and support for investigators e.g. on robberies
  • Assist with audit procedures for audit investigations

Health and safety

  • Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the departmental safety plans for each year.
  • Participate in safety forums created by company for example safety meetings and safety talks
  • Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
  • Discuss all safety incidents
  • Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/committee/representative/management
  • Attend safety education and refresher programmes
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace
  • Distribute safety information as and when required
  • Wear protective clothing all the time

Core Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday – 06:00 till 18:00 (12 hour Shifts – No weekend or Night work required)

The Ideal Candidate:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be a SA Citizen (+18 years & older)
  • Clean Criminal Record
  • Minimum Grade 11 to 12 (certified copy of school certificate)
  • Valid driver’s license (code 8) & sound driving experience
  • Minimum PSIRA Grade A certification (may hold a Grade C qualification to up-skill with a bridge course)
  • Mental & Physical suitability assessment (will be handled internally)
  • Handgun 9 mm Firearm competency with a valid certification & license card
  • Preferred Armed Response or CIT qualified & accreditation (advantageous)
  • Voice Stress Analysis / Polygraph assessment will be conducted as part of the screening process

Knowledge, skills and attributes:

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills in English (Written & Spoken)
  • Sound security experience and record
  • Be proficient in all areas of physical methods of control and restraint
  • Knowledgeable in the use and maintenance of all security related equipment
  • Self-starter, diligent & co-operative to serve in public
