Job Introduction:

                                                      Manufacturing Manager

G4S Cash Solutions (SA), a leading provider of integrated cash management solutions, has a vacancy for a Manufacturing Manager based at our operations in Midrand.

Managing the ABM manufacturing facility to ensure quality, effectiveness and on time delivery in terms of SLA requirements.

The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which operations plays within a successful business unit. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.

Role Responsibility:

Effective management of the manufacturing facility

  • Proper functioning of the plant, including equipment and staff
  • Production scheduling to ensure delivery time lines are complied with
  • Assist in roll-out plans for new installations and upgraded ABM’s
  • Coordination of service department
  • Liaise with technical department in regards to upgrades and enhancements on software and electronic components.
  • Contributing to the Organic Growth achieved against budget for Business.
  • Contributing to the Pbita / Budget achievement for Business.

Effective management of staff within the manufacturing facility.

  • Staff turnover analysis and proper allocation of staff to positions and structure.
  • Set and agree objectives and performance standards with management Team and ensure cascading through the Business Unit as appropriate.
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback.
  • Create appropriate reward and disciplinary process to both motivate and discipline staff on outputs through the assembly process.
  • Succession Planning in place, updated and practiced
  • Determine training needs for direct reports (in line with training and HR policy). Arrange for attendance of subordinates at scheduled training interventions and coach staff as needed.
  • Set and maintain acceptable standards of behaviour at work by all subordinate employees, as required by G4S’s code of conduct and disciplinary code.
  • Ensure that all disciplinary actions are conducted in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Hold management team meetings and communicate to all regional operations director and their staff through those briefings.
  • Ensure maximum participation in Employee survey and action planning
  • Foster healthy Industrial Relations with relevant unions with regular contact and consultations

Health and Safety

  • In conjunction with the Director: Research, Development and Production and the relevant Health and Safety professional advice, ensure the Health and Safety policy and strategy for the business is up to date and appropriate.
  • Regular review of Health and Safety in the operations, to be done quarterly as a minimum
  • Ensure the operations conduct regular risk assessments, inspections and hold relevant meetings
  • Ensure any health and safety issues are addressed with customers as and when appropriate


The Ideal Candidate:

Minimum qualification

  • B.Com (or equivalent) qualification an advantage
  • Project Management qualification an advantage
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in Management
  • Minimum 5 years Cash experience
  • Minimum 5 years Production / manufacturing
